The Department of Development Studies at Dhaka International University (DIU) is dedicated to exploring the challenges and opportunities associated with development, particularly in the context of Bangladesh. The program provides students with a comprehensive framework to understand social transformation and development processes, focusing on the dynamics of human and material resource advancement in less developed regions.
By integrating insights from diverse disciplines such as political science, economics, sociology, psychology, anthropology, geography, history, and environmental science, the curriculum fosters a multidisciplinary approach to development. This holistic perspective prepares students to address complex global challenges and contribute meaningfully to sustainable development initiatives at both national and international levels. As the head of the Department of Development Studies, it is a privilege to welcome you to our dynamic academic community. Our program offers a multidisciplinary approach to the study of development, blending fields such as political science, economics, sociology, anthropology, and environmental science. - To articulate professional knowledge and practices in a responsible and sustainable way using its locally and globally exposed and experienced faculty members.
- To illustrate creative and critical thinking skills of the students to contribute in both national and international economic development policy making.
- To assess the business and economic development ethics, social responsibilities, team building attitude with a stimulating, challenging and continuously improving learning environment.
- To design research based ideas, knowledge, skills and experiences for making an effective economic, business and development plan, project formulation, implementation and evaluation strategy in a global perspective.
